Fahrenheit 451: A Novel by Ray Bradbury

Amazon's editorial review states, "in Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury's classic, frightening vision of the future, firemen don't put out fires--they start them in order to burn books. Bradbury's vividly painted society holds up the appearance of happiness as the highest goal--a place where trivial information is good, and knowledge and ideas are bad. "

We believe that the unethical and illegal actions of Capella University and their attorneys greatly resemble those of the society described by Bradbury.

The Life and Times of Joe McCarthy

Jospeph McCarthy, widely considered as one of the most evil politicians this country has ever produced, will provide a great deal of insight into the abusive and illegal practices of Capella University.

Not surprisingly, there are many similarities between McCarthy, an "esteemed" senator from Wisconsin , and both Michael Offerman (Capella's vice chairman, external university initiatives) and also Chris L'Orange, one of Capella's lawyers from Drinker Biddle & Reath; including:

• Fact: Both McCarthy and Offerman are from Wisconsin.
• Fact: McCarthy and L'Orange were/are "lawyers." McCarthy who was also a judge that,

  "The Wisconsin Supreme Court criticized . . . for destroying a court record in 1941. McCarthy had removed one page from a court transcript to hide his comment that a trial in the Quaker Dairy case was a "waste of the court's time." The Department of Agriculture had brought suit against the Quaker Dairy Company for undercutting competition."

  There certainly is not much difference between ripping out pages in a court transcript and demanding to have public records censored from scrutiny - especially when those public records reveal illegal and dishonest actions.

• Fact: McCarthy and L'Orange have both spent a lot of time in the Solomon Islands. According to information found on "My History Museum's" web site, McCarthy,"spent sixteen months in the Solomon Islands." Chris L'Orange has also spent a lot of time in the Solomon Islands, although unlike McCarthy, L'Orange was there taking extravagant vacations (where he brings pencils to give to the local urchins between his scuba diving adventures).

While L'Orange literally ridicules people (in court, no less) for taking a single trip to Ensenada, Mexico (which he mockingly referred to as "the Mexican Riviera" [emphasis not added]), he takes extraordinarily extravagant trips around the globe. The Oakland Times reported (February 17, 2008) that,

". . .L'Orange has done numerous [scuba] dive trips to Thailand, Guadalcanal, the Galapagos, New Guinea and other remote sites. [In addition to] each of his four trips to the Solomon Islands."

• Fact: Both McCarthy and L'Orange also have a connection to beautiful Santa Ana, California: McCarthy to get an award and L'Orange to visit court houses.

History will continue to repeat itself until those with integrity to fight evil demand otherwise.
